Make Valentine’s Day Special with Meal Delivery

By Ruby Cemental

Valentine’s Day might be a bit different this year. Many cities around the US are still on lockdown, which makes a special date night a bit tricky. But instead of going out, you and your loved one can enjoy a night in by taking advantage of meal delivery services. These services pick up food from restaurants in your area and bring them right to your door. This is a great way to social distance and remain safe while still making the evening special. And the best part is that you can deliver a meal to a loved one who doesn’t live near you, so they can feel how much you love them. In this post, we will review some of the most popular meal delivery services.

Grubhub

Grubhub is a popular meal delivery service that is available around the country. Order food from a local restaurant, and Grubhub will pick it up for you and bring it to your home. You can order food online or through their app. Plus, they offer free delivery on your first order! They also make it easy to see what’s available near you. Just type in an address, and they will show you the restaurants offering pickup. Another perk to this delivery service is that they take just about every payment method, including PayPal, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.

Seamless

We can’t mention Grubhub without talking about Seamless, which is owned by Grubhub. This company operates just like Grubhub. If you compare their websites, you’ll see the similarities.

DoorDash

Find local restaurants that offer pickup and order your meal on DoorDash, which was ranked the most popular food delivery app. On their site, DoorDash tells you the estimated time for delivery for your meal before you even order. This can help you decide between restaurants at a glance. As you explore restaurants more in depth, you can see restaurants that have no delivery fee on your first order, restaurant ratings, and estimated delivery cost. DoorDash also offers an app, so you can order online or on your phone.

Uber Eats

You’ve probably heard of Uber, which is a platform to arrange rides wherever you are. Well, the company has also expanded their services to include meal delivery. Uber’s fleet of verified drivers can also pick up your favorite meals and bring them straight to your door. On their website, Uber Eats gives you the delivery fee up front along with the projected wait time. You can find restaurants near you and explore different cuisines until you find just what you are looking for. You can also download their mobile app.

Postmates

Postmates is known for delivering just about anything — from groceries to food. This option is great if you want to order a gift for your loved one too, like flowers or chocolate. Postmates operates like the other delivery platforms we’ve discussed. But the thing that makes this app stand out is the deals. The company sends out offers and deals through email and on their app, which can help cut down on costs. This service is available 24/7, which also sets it apart from some of its competitors. However, their delivery fees are usually between $1 and $10, and they may add an additional charge based on how busy it is. So, you might pay more for delivery on Valentine’s day.

Delivery.com

One of Postmates’ competitors is Delivery.com. They also deliver more than just meals. You could order groceries, gifts, alcohol, and of course, a delicious meal. The site shows you an estimated delivery time, price range, and a delivery fee. Delivery.com, like many of the services we’ve mentioned, has a rewards program. Every order earns you points, which you can redeem for gift cards and other rewards. So, if you are a frequent user of delivery services, it might be beneficial to go with Delivery.com and earn those rewards.

Ordering Directly from Restaurants

You don’t just have to go with a meal delivery service. Many restaurants also offer their own delivery services. Some partner with the services we’ve mentioned, and others have their own delivery fleets that are ready to drop off a hot meal. However, these options vary by restaurant and even restaurant location. So, you’ll have to check with your favorite local restaurants before ordering.

And if restaurant delivery isn’t an option where you live, you can always opt for pickup. Many restaurants have adopted this service since the pandemic. You can drive to the restaurant and pick up your food curbside. Most restaurants have blocked off parking spots that are numbered, so the restaurant knows exactly where to bring your meal. That helps you maintain social distancing while still getting a special Valentine’s Day dinner.

With these tips, you can safely order a meal to enjoy at home or order a meal to be delivered to a loved one so they feel special this year. For more tips on how to keep your loved one safe and healthy this year, reach out to our senior care experts. We are always here to help!
