OVERVIEW OF CHF

Congestive heart failure (CHF) is the most common diagnosis in hospital patients over 65 years old. The term “heart failure” doesn’t mean the heart will stop but indicates that the heart isn’t pumping effectively. CHF is a form of heart failure in which the body retains fluid — in arms, legs, lungs, abdomen, etc. This condition can prevent proper blood flow and put excess strain on the heart and body.

Seniors with CHF may experience shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, irregular heartbeat, coughing, and more. These symptoms may make it difficult for them to carry out their regular routine.
