Top Activities for Seniors in Canton

Canton has many of its own activities for seniors to participate in, and it is also not far from Akron, OH which can offer even more activities for those 55+. Whether you are looking for activities for yourself and your friends, or family-friendly ideas for taking your grandchildren, there are many choices in Canton.

1. Canton Classic Car Museum

Spend several hours seeing classic cars from 1904 -1981 in the Canton Classic Car Museum. Enjoy seeing cars from your past and sharing them with your grandchildren. You can also find other vehicles, toys and McKinley artifacts.

2. Pro Football Hall of Fame

If you are a football fan, the Pro Football Hall of Fame is the go-to place to see movies, artifacts and read books about your favorite moments of the sport. You can share your memories with friends and family. Senior ticket pricing is available. 

3. McKinley Presidential Library & Museum

Considered one of Canton's hidden gems, the McKinley Presidential Library & Museum features an interactive science museum, historical library, planetarium and historical record of Stark County. Senior admission is $9, or you can buy a membership for free admission. There are permanent and temporary exhibits, bus trips, and other special events that are offered. 

4. Downtown Canton Arts District

Browse and shop in the Arts District, which includes seven galleries, 22 artist studios, 5 live music venues, specialty shops, fine restaurants, hot bars, and unique public art. First Fridays from 6 pm to 10 pm is a monthly event every month rain or shine (or snow). There is a Farmers Market June through October. Theater performances, flea markets and other events occur year round. 

5. Beech Creek Gardens

A great place to visit, Beech Creek Gardens offers seniors free admission. Indoor and outdoor activities include hiking paths, Plant Science Center, gardens, picnic areas and playground. 

6. Cache 4 Coins GeoTour

For those who like to find treasures, download the Cache 4 Coins map from here, and follow the directions. This is a great family event and kids can learn a lot about the area and so can you! Geocaching is one of the newest adventures for treasure hunters.

7. Canton Food Tours

There are several walking and van food tours offered at various prices. You can select from daytime or night time tours. Each tour lists what is included in the cost, including tour, meals, cocktails and activities.

8. Escape Rooms

You can try to escape from 3 different escape rooms with your family or a group of friends. Great for mystery buffs and Sherlock Holmes fans, this activity is a new way to enjoy the thrill of discovery and test your detective skills.
