Top Activities for Seniors in Bergen County

By Alyssa Ball

Bergen County, NJ, is a vibrant area just across the George Washington Bridge from Manhattan. It's comprised of 70 municipalities, each of which is under a population of 45,000 residents. That being said, each borough offers its own personality and amenities, and, when you long for the big city, it's just across the Hudson River. Many seniors are choosing to stay in familiar surroundings rather than flee to southern climes because there's so much to offer.

Here are just a few of the activities for seniors living in or near Bergen County, NJ.

bergenPAC attracts world-class performances throughout the year and at affordable prices. Whether your tastes lean toward classical or rock, you'll find a venue to capture your attention.

Health & Fitness

Flat Rock Brook Nature Center in Englewood

Whether you prefer the solitude of a lone hike or being part of a group walk provided by the center, you'll enjoy what the day has to offer. Take advantage of the programs offered here that include gardening. You may also opt to adopt a raptor.

Golf

Whether you're new to the links or a dedicated veteran, unwinding by hitting some golf balls is a relaxing way to polish your skills and get in some physical activity. Bergen County offers a wonderful array of golf course choices that range from 9 to 18 holes, and each with its own distinct challenges and characteristics. You can enjoy a day on the green without club membership.
