El Paso Donation Drive

CARING SENIOR SERVICE TEAMS WITH RIO GRANDE AREA AGENCY ON AGING IN EL PASO TO COLLECT MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR SENIORS

As part of a national, company-wide initiative, the local field office of Caring Senior Service in El Paso is teaming with the Rio Grande Area Agency On Aging to raise awareness about the availability of free or affordable medical equipment.

Throughout the months of August and September, local Caring Senior Service offices will provide information to the public about donation sites where they can deliver new or gently-used medical equipment. Each of Caring Senior Service’s 30 locations will partner with a local non-profit, church or government agency. In El Paso, the local partner is the Rio Grande Area Agency On Aging. The information will also be available to anyone who might be in need of medical equipment.

In many cases, families of seniors may have medical equipment that is no longer needed – if the senior passed away or moved to a nursing home for example. These families are often looking for a place to donate it to someone in need. Finding and coordinating the delivery of the equipment can be difficult without the proper organization. This is where Caring Senior Service is stepping in, to spread the word among healthcare providers that these donation opportunities exist.

In addition, many healthcare professionals are often asked by patients where they might find low-cost medical supplies like hospital beds, walkers or wheelchairs. The information provided by Caring Senior Service also gives healthcare providers another resource to help their patients.

For seniors, Medicare will often pay for medical equipment if it is prescribed by a physician. For non-seniors, and in other instances, there sometimes is a need for medical equipment that may not be covered by government funding.

Each Caring Senior Service office is partnering with a local organization – church, Goodwill Industries, senior centers, non-profit, government agency – to get the word out about how to donate the new or gently-used equipment.

Founded in 1991, Caring Senior Service provides services, products and education to seniors and their families to make aging in place their first option. The San Antonio-based company operates 30 offices in nine states. Visit http://www.caringseniorservice.com to find a local Caring Senior Service office.
