Thanksgiving for Caregiving

With Thanksgiving a week away many are pausing to reflect on what they are thankful for and it is no different for me and Caring Senior Service. Appropriately, coinciding with Thanksgiving is National Family Caregivers Month; an all important recognition and celebration where the nation pauses to reflect and honor family care giving heroes who continue to fulfill a vital role in the health and well-being of their loved ones and make such a remarkable difference on the care team.

We have had the opportunity to work side-by-side with family caregivers for 20 years and know firsthand that for family caregivers it is an honorable decision to make such sacrifices for a loved one. With over 1500 caregivers in 14 states, Caring Senior Service is certainly no stranger to the impact caregivers have in the healthcare continuum, who selflessly serve their loved ones by providing continuity of care, support, aid, and assistance.

As we approach this Thanksgiving holiday, Caring Senior Service would like to acknowledge and salute all of the family caregivers who have chosen to take on such a demanding and often time’s underappreciated role for your loved one. We know all too well that the journey is certainly not easy with the challenges faced on a daily basis.

For those serving as a family caregiver as well as those who may soon face such a situation be mindful that the road ahead does not have to be too hard and you should not have to navigate that road alone or hesitate to reach out for help. Reaching out for help should not be viewed as a sign of weakness or be shrouded in guilt; rather, it demonstrates strength and a keen awareness of your own abilities and sense of self and when approached from the heart is one of the most significant gifts one could bestow on their loved ones.

Therefore, in honor of National Family Caregivers Month, Caring Senior Service wishes to extend to all the family caregivers a virtual handshake for all you do and your dedication, devotion and perseverance. We are truly honored to serve side-by-side with you for 20 years and wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving!
